Pencils, Photographs, Watercolours, Inks, Coloured Pencils and Photoshop
We were asked by a company to create a set of postcard designs to promote maths to a young audience.
I decided to explore as many techniques as possible when creating mine - trying to create something eye-catching and interesing.Above: A caricature of Patrick Moore sitting on the earth to promote the astronomy side of Maths
- I inked a sketch in Photoshop, and used bold colours to attract attention and give a cartooney vibrant feel.
Above: Taking a pencil design of a stereotypical "geek" and colouring it in Photoshop, adding a collage of the desirable
items that maths can supply - with the big equals sign crossed out by the geek in a messy firm fashion.
Above: My favourite! A "Wheres Wally?" style piece, set in the lab with the mice escaping.
With this piece I wanted to add participation for the reader - giving the task of "finding x and y"
(a very silly pun, I'm sorry) and counting all the mice that escaped.
I used pens, watercolours and coloured pencils to create this piece.
Above: Can the Maths Rangers save the kittens from the asteroids with thier lazers?
Of course! (Using the correct angles, force and calculating the distance, obviously!)
